2 accused of stealing $10,000 in lottery tickets from Rock Hill store

Two managers of a Cherry Road gas station in Rock Hill are accused of stealing more than $10,000 worth of scratch off lottery tickets over the past year, according to a Rock Hill police report.

Police are investigating the theft and have not released the names of the employees suspected of stealing the lottery tickets. No formal charges have been made.

Another manager of the gas station told police that the employees — both women in their late 30s — were taking multiple tickets at a time, scratching them off and claiming the winnings, the report states.

The South Carolina Lottery office contacted the manager who reported the theft to alert him that “his store was selling more scratch tickets” than the gas station’s records reflected, according to the report.

Rock Hill police have marked the case “active” and plan to review the store’s surveillance video and financial documentation of the stolen tickets.
