A Catawba County man will spend 35 years in federal prison after pleading guilty last year to producing child pornography.
Bruce Leroy Donald, Jr., 41, of Newton, also faces a lifetime of supervised release after his prison sentence is complete, federal authorities said Friday.
Authorities say an investigation found that Donald had sexually-abused a male minor repeatedly between 2007 and 2008 and had photographed some of the abuse. He was a registered sex offender at the time, officials say.
Investigators found that Donald had “hundreds of images of child pornography,” with one of the victims identified by law enforcement as a local minor, according to a release from the U.S. Attorneys Office.
A grand jury originally indicted Donald in May of 2011 on charges of production of child pornography, possession of child pornography and felony offense involving a minor committed by a registered sex offender.
Donald pleaded guilty to the pornography charges last October, and was sentenced Friday in U.S. District Court. He has been in custody since May 2011 and will be transferred to a federal prison facility.
