There’s a new kid on the grocery block: Florida-based Publix opened stores last month in Indian Land and Tega Cay. A Ballantyne-area store is planned for early 2014. Here’s a quick primer about Publix:
Store coupons: Publix publishes special magazines with coupons and other information. These coupons can be stacked with manufacturer coupons.
Doubling: Publix doubles coupons up to and including $0.50. It only doubles manufacturer coupons, not store coupons.
The Publix Promise: If the scanned price of an item (excluding alcohol and tobacco products) exceeds the shelf price or advertised price, Publix will give the customer one of that item free.
BOGO policy: During a Buy-One-Get-One-Free sale, shoppers do not have to buy both items. Each item will ring up at half price. Coupons can be used on BOGO items.
Before your first visit: Visit the Publix website and sign up for a My Publix account to enroll in special programs, including:
Publix Baby Club: Get free newsletters with coupons and articles. First-time parents receive the American Academy of Pediatrics’ “Caring for Your Baby and Young Child.”
Publix Preschool Pals: Get newsletters with coupons and access to educational tools for toddlers.
Publix Paws: Receive special pet-related promotions, newsletters and savings.
Publix Wine Discount Program: Get a 10 percent savings on purchases of eight or more bottles of wine, or 5 percent off purchases of four to seven bottles of wine.
Publix Family Style: This magazine includes recipes, tips and coupons. A smaller version with some of the coupons will be available at the store.
Publix UPromise Tag: Publix participates in the UPromise college savings program. Shoppers will need to get a Publix UPromise Tag at customer service.
