Suspects sought in Kannapolis robberies

Kannapolis police are searching for whomever is responsible for three robberies Thursday at area businesses.

The robberies happened within an eight-hour span at two gas stations, and a shoe store.

Police said the first robbery was reported at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the Express Mart in the 3100 block of North Main Street in Kannapolis. Another robbery was reported two hours later at the Shoe Store in the 200 block of North Cannon Boulevard.

Authorities say the suspect displayed a firearm in both of those robberies and left with an undisclosed about of money. Police released a limited description of the suspect, who was described as a black male with short hair wearing dark clothing with some type of face paint.

Kannapolis police say they were called to a third robbery around 10:50 p.m. Thursday at the Rushco gas station in the 600 block of North Cannon Boulevard. In that case, police said the suspect took an undisclosed about of money.

The suspect was in the third robbery was described as a white male in his 50s, who is between five-foot-six and five-foot-10 and who was wearing a camouflage jacket, blue jeans and an orange hat.
