Your morning traffic update

Many of the traffic problemsa at 8:30 a.m. Monday were in north Charlotte.

Police report several wrecks in the University City area, and wrecks also were reported on Idlewild and Monroe roads.

Here is a summary at 8:30 a.m.:

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; average speeds of 20 to 25 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; average speeds of 20 mph from just north of the lake down to I-485.

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; 25 mph average speeds from Carowinds up to Tyvola Road.

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Heavy congestion; 15 to 20 mph average speeds from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Normal conditions, which includes the typical slowdown from Harris Boulevard to Idlewild Road.

-- University City Boulevard at John Kirk Drive ... A collision causing moderate delays.

-- North Tryon Street at I-485 ... A collision being cleared; moderate delays.

-- Idlewild Road at Margaret Wallace Road ... A collision causing moderate delays.

-- South Boulevard at Arrowood Road ... A collision; minor delays.

-- Monroe Road at Village Lake Drive ... An earlier collision is being cleared, but there are still moderate delays.
