1 hurt in Tyvola crash, fire

One person was hospitalized Monday morning after a single-vehicle crash in south Charlotte, police say.

The car caught fire after the crash, forcing a portion of Tyvola Road to be closed.

The crash was reported about 3:30 a.m. on Tyvola Road, between South Tryon Street and Nations Ford Road. Police say it appears as if the car hit a tree or concrete barrier. After the crash, the car caught fire in the middle of Tyvola Road.

Medic transported one person to Carolinas Medical Center, but information on the victim’s condition was not available Monday morning. Tyvola Road was closed until about 6 a.m. while police and firefighters cleared the wreck.
