Two people were hurt Thursday after a wreck involving a CATS bus, a collision that briefly stalled traffic on a southwest Charlotte roadway.
The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. Thursday on Clanton Road near Interstate 77. Emergency crews briefly blocked part of the intersection while they worked the scene. The road reopened around 9 a.m.
Authorities said two people in the SUV were hurt, including one who sustained life-threatening injuries, according to WCNC-TV, the Observer’s news partner.
There were three people, including two passengers, aboard the Charlotte Area Transit System bus. But officials said they were not injured.
The Clanton wreck was just one of many headaches Charlotte-area drivers faced during Thursday’s morning commute.
A portion of Interstate 85 in west Mecklenburg was closed for several hours after a tractor-trailer flipped during an overnight wreck. The truck was reportedly carrying shampoo and lotions.
The collision closed the ramp from southbound I-85 to the outer loop of I-485 until about 9 a.m.
I-85 south lanes closed in Rowan
Meanwhile in Rowan County, two southbound lanes of Interstate 85 remain closed near Spencer after another wreck this morning involving a tractor-trailer. The wreck occurred near exit 81, and transportation crews say the lanes are not expected to reopen until early Thursday afternoon. Drivers should expect some delays in the area.
