Charlottean voted ‘Woman of Worth’

Olivia Stinson of Charlotte has been named a L’Oreal Paris International Woman of Worth winner for her community service.

Olivia, 19, was among 10 selected from more than 3,000 women nationwide. She was flown to New York Oct. 3 and filmed part of a video that will celebrate her service work on the Internet. The other part was filmed Oct. 27 in Charlotte.

She and the nine other honorees will be up for a nationwide vote through Nov. 21. The top vote-getter will receive a donation of $25,000 from L’Oreal Paris International for her continued service work.

For Olivia, that’s the PEN Pals Book Club & Support Group for Children of Incarcerated Parents, which she started at age 14. Its mission is to fight illiteracy among children of incarcerated parents and provide mentors who offer them encouragement and support.

Votes may be cast only through the Women of Worth website: www.womenofworth.com. Anyone with a valid email can vote once a day for a candidate.
