A mother and son charged with robbing a University City bank two weeks ago were released from jail Wednesday.

Pamela Simpson, 48, was released on $12,500 bond, and her son, Carlos Simpson, 21, was released on $35,000 bond. Both were issued electronic monitors, and their trial court dates will be Nov. 16.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers responded to a robbery call Oct. 26 at the First Citizens Bank in the 6700 block of N. Tryon Street, according to a release.

En route, officers saw the Simpsons at a bus stop near the bank, the release said. One officer noticed the two had dye on their clothing, which was from an exploded dye pack.

Officers stopped them and found the note used during the robbery as well as stolen money, the release said. Police did not disclose how much money was stolen.

Both were charged with common law robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
