My two 4-year-old German shepherds rarely come when I call to them in the back yard. As “Mommy,” I am ignored and they continue playing. Since my husband is the “alpha male” of the family, they always come for him. I decided to record my husband’s voice demanding they come on my smartphone. I play it on speaker and they come running into the house every time. I’ve even used it when my husband was out of town on business. I feel just a little guilty as the pups excitedly enter our home looking for him. Kar Spindanger, Concord
