Several collisions reported in area


Motorists on some of Charlotte’s major thoroughfares are dealing with collisions this Friday morning.

At 10:45 a.m., police were reporting wrecks on Tryon Street in uptown, on University City Boulevard, and on South Boulevard. An earlier natural gas leak on Independence Boulevard is not causing problems.

The report at 10:45 a.m.

-- University City Boulevard, north of the 29-49 split ... Police are clearing an earlier two-vehicle wreck. Some slowdowns, but conditions should improve after 11 a.m.

-- Independence Boulevard, near Margaret Wallace Road ... An earlier natural gas leak has been controlled. Only minor delays.

-- Tryon Street at 5th Street, uptown ... A collision with injuries. Motorists should avoid the area until 11:15 a.m.

-- Mallard Creek Road at Governor Hunt Road ... An earlier collision is being cleared; minor delays.

-- South Boulevard at Woodlawn Road ... A collision (second wreck today at that site); minor delays.
