1 shot in Charlotte robbery attempt


One person was injured Friday morning in a shooting during an apparent attempted robbery in northwest Charlotte, police say.

It happened shortly after 5 a.m. at the Raceway station on Brookshire Boulevard, near Hoskins Road. That is a short distance northwest of Interstate 85.

According to police, a man tried to rob the station and fired a shot. That bullet struck a bystander in the leg. The victim was taken by Medic to Carolinas Medical Center, with injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Police say they took one man into custody.
