The Daily Beast website, associated with Newsweek magazine, is pointing out today that Charlotte's Dilworth neighborhood is home to both Paula Broadwell, Gen. David Petraeuss "other woman," and Rielle Hunter, notorious for her affair with John Edwards.
Reporter Diane Dimond asks: "What are the odds that the mistresses of two of Americas most disgraced civil servants live in the same state, in the same city, and even in the same neighborhood?"
She points out that the home of Paula Broadwell, alleged lover of ex-CIA Director David Petraeus, is about 1.6 miles away from the home of Rielle Hunter, the mistress of former senator and presidential candidate John Edwards.
Then Dimond launches into a travel guide of Dilworth neighborhood, which she calls 'tony.'
The article speculates that the two women, who both have children, might have crossed paths in Dilworth's shopping and dining locations, or possibly at Freedom Park, 'a magnet for families with kids.'
The article also digs up the Sallie Saxon scandal from years ago, where a Charlotte housewife pleaded guilty to running HushHush.com, an Internet-based call-girl operation.
Dimond quotes Mark Pellin, who runs Pundithouse.com in Charlotte: Theres something about this city. ... Remember, you cant spell Charlotte without H-a-r-l-o-t.
