Tuesday forecast: early rain, high in mid-50s

The rain has largely moved out of the Charlotte region on Tuesday, but cooler temperatures will linger in the area for the near future.

The high was only expected to reach 55 degrees on Tuesday, and there’s a chance we’ve already hit that high mark. Temperatures fell steadily in the early-morning hours as a cold front and light showers moved into the region.

The National Weather Service says there will be only an isolated chance of showers until noon, and then it will turn partly sunny.

Temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-30s overnight and the cooler weather will stay in the area for a few days. The National Weather Service also expects some rain to move back into the area beginning Wednesday evening.

But skies should clear again in time for the weekend, with early forecasts calling for partly-sunny conditions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
