MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Myrtle Beach police are investigating a report of a woman being taken to dinner by a man, who then left her with the food bill and stole her vehicle, according to a police report.

Officers were called at 7:30 p.m. Sunday to Damon’s at 2985 S. Ocean Blvd., for a 42-year-old woman’s vehicle being stolen, police said.

The victim told officers she met a man at 2:30 a.m. Sunday at The Penthouse Club and he was a mutual friend of her brother, according to the report. The woman said the man was very intoxicated so she allowed him to spend the night at her home and he offered to take her to dinner that evening.

The couple went to Damon’s and ate, but when it came time to pay for the bill the man told the victim he left his wallet in her car and took the keys to get it, according to the report. Instead, the woman said the man stole her car and left her with a $56.83 bill, which she was not prepared to pay.

Officers checked several areas for the suspect and the vehicle, a red 2001 Toyota Celica, but did not find it, according to the report. Detectives are investigating the incident.
