Mooresville police are investigating after a 17-year-old was found dead in a residence early Friday.

The victim was identified as Markell Terrice Norris. He was a student at Mooresville High School, according to the Mooresville Tribune.

Police said they were called to a residence in the 300 block of Bell Street at 7:16 a.m. Friday in reference to a person who was unconscious. Officers who arrived to the scene found Norris deceased.

The Tribune said authorities planned to send the teen’s body in for an autopsy to determine how he died.

Additional details have not been released, and police said the case remains under investigation.
