Registration is open for the Christmas Flotilla and Parade, the Lake Norman Yacht Club’s second annual sailboat decorating contest and parade on Lake Norman.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Participants will sail from channel marker D7 to the Rusty Rudder restaurant in Cornelius, then back to the yacht club’s clubhouse.

Participants are encouraged to decorate their sailboats for the parade. A $250 gift certificate will go to the best-decorated boat. Chili and refreshments will be served at the clubhouse after the parade.

The signup fee is $10 per boat. All boats should have required navigation lights and safety equipment on board for the parade, which organizers said would end around 8 p.m. For information or to register, email mhamilton64@hotmail.com.
