ROCK HILL A Rock Hill woman angry that her niece ran away from home allegedly beat the girl Saturday before hitting her with an electrical cord, police say.
Police have charged Sandra Flores, 36, with unlawful conduct of a child. She was released on a $5,000 bond.
Officers went to Joyce Street and met with a 14-year-old girl who said her aunt, who’s her guardian, assaulted her, according to a Rock Hill police report. The girl’s lip was bleeding, her face was bruised and she had scratches on both sides of her face.
Authorities then went to a Bose Avenue home and spoke with Flores, who said the girl had been missing for three days. When the teen returned home the next morning, Flores admitted that she hit the girl, who had become “disrespectful,” the report states.
Flores said she slapped the girl twice and got so angry that she “beat” the girl numerous times with her fists, as well as with an electrical cord, the report states.
Because of the girl’s injuries, police arrested Flores. The girl was placed with in the care of a classmate’s mother after calls to a DSS caseworker were not returned.
