Charlotte Bobcats power forward Tyrus Thomas is expected to miss two months after a magnetic resonance imaging revealed a tear of the plantaris muscle in his left leg.
Thomas hobbled out of Saturdays loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Mondays MRI revealed the muscle tear near his calf. He also has a second-degree strain of the calf itself.
The injury does not require surgery, but has a relatively long recovery period.
Thomas injury figures to push up new Bobcat Hakim Warricks minutes. The Bobcats traded Matt Carroll to the New Orleans Hornets last week to acquire Warrick, adding depth at power forward. Warrick played well in his first game as a Bobcat, finishing with five points and four rebounds in 10 minutes against the Grizzlies.
