Anyone leaving town for the Thanksgiving holiday and headed up Interstate 85 today will face problems -- at least until early Tuesday afternoon.
A truck wreck has caused traffic slowdowns on northbound I-85 in northern Davidson County. The wreck, which happened near Exit 96 in Thomasville, involved hazardous materials, and the DOT closed all northbound lanes for about four hours.
DOT officials say they were able to reopen two lanes shortly before 10 a.m., but at least one lane remains closed during the cleanup. Authorities say traffic is slow in the area and likely will remain that way until the cleanup is completed.
