Three men face charges after Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they broke into a house but apparently were surprised to find a resident at home.

It happened about 8:45 a.m. Monday at a home in the 7700 block of Hammond Drive, which runs between Robinson Church and Hood roads in northeast Charlotte.

Police say the men kicked in the front door of the home, but a resident inside called police. The men drove off, and officers from the Hickory Grove Division spotted the vehicle a short time later and arrested three men.

The suspects face felony breaking-and-entering charges.

They are identified as Derrick Boston, 24; Anthony Bost, 26; and Tardra Bouknight, 28.
