GRANITE QUARRY -- Police in Rowan County are looking for a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery Sunday evening.

The robbery was reported about 8:15 p.m. at the Dollar General Store on Granite Lane in Granite Quarry. The clerk reported The suspect displayed what appeared to be a handgun in his pants waistband.

The Granite Quarry-Faith police, assisted by the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, searched for the man, and the K-9 dog unit was able to track the suspect to the end of Granite Lane, where the track ended. Authorities say it appears as if the suspect had a vehicle waiting for him.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his mid to late 40s, wearing a white ball cap; a black pull-over jacket’ a black shirt; black gloves; light blue jeans; and white tennis shoes. The clerk also said the man had some type of blue makeup on his face.
