Community supports Matthews fire victims

Matthews police say the community has responded generously to help victims of a recent apartment fire.

Police put out a call last week for donations of personal care items, to help 11 people who lost all their belongings in a Nov. 9 fire in Matthews. Cpl. Lori Valdes said Tuesday that police “are overwhelmed with the support we have received from the community.”

Valdes says no additional donations are needed.
