6 resign from Caldwell sheriff's office after probe

Six employees of the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office have resigned after an internal investigation, Sheriff Alan Jones said Tuesday.

Jones said the resignations involved four members of the sheriff’s office and two communications personnel. He did not discuss the nature of the investigation or the rank of officers involved.

However, the turnover might have involved at least one higher-ranking staff member, because Jones announced that B.J. Fore had been promoted from sergeant to captain.

In a statement, the sheriff’s office said the resignations involved “a confidential personnel matter, therefore we cannot address the nature or any additional details” of the investigation.

Jones said, “We regret the loss of these officers, but it will not affect services to the citizens of the county.”

He said Fore’s promotion was part of a reorganization in the sheriff’s office.
