Traffic is moving smoothly at 8:45 a.m. this Wednesday morning on most of the interstate highways in the Charlotte region, and the same is true on East Independence Boulevard.
That is because many people are not working on this day before Thanksgiving, and schools are not in session.
Earlier this morning, a pedestrian was struck and injured by a car while trying to cross Pineville-Matthews Road at Johnston Road. That pedestrian was transported to the hospital by Medic with injuries described as potentially life-threatening.
There also are a few problems on secondary roads:
-- I-85 northbound, near Concord Mills Boulevard ... Congestion, possibly related to shoppers headed to Concord Mills; traffic moving 20-30 mph from I-485 to Concord Mills Boulevard.
-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 30-35 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.
-- Sharon Road West at Park Road ... Disabled vehicle; minor delays.
-- Westinghouse Boulevard near the I-77 ramp ... Collision; minor delays.
-- Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at South Caldwell Street ... Collision being cleared; minor delays.
-- Sugar Creek Road near I-85 ... Collision; minor delays.
