A Charlotte man was arrested Wednesday in connection with soliciting a child by computer for an illegal sex act.

Aran Cox, 27, allegedly met a child under the age of 16 on Facebook and had ongoing online interactions of a sexual nature, according to a release from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Cox arranged a meeting with the victim Wednesday at a Charlotte middle school, the release said.

CMPD Youth Crimes Detectives, Providence Division Officers and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Law Enforcement were aware of Cox’s plan and were ready to arrest him when he got to the school.

About noon, Cox arrived at the school and was arrested without incident, the release said. He was later transported to the Mecklenburg County Intake Center under $152,500 bond.

Cox has been charged with solicitation of a child by computer or other electronic device to commit an unlawful sex act, third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and disseminating obscene material to a minor.
