Woman alive after shot to head

A woman was apparently shot in the head Wednesday night but is still alive.

About 8:30 p.m., Charlotte-Mecklenburg police responded to a call about a gunshot wound in the 2600 block of Brentwood Place, which is near the intersection of Remount Road and Barringer Drive.

The woman was in a house in that block when a red car, possibly a Ford Taurus, fired shots into the house. She was also shot in the leg, police said. The woman was transported to CMC-Main, and police said the woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police are still looking for the red car. Anyone with information about the drive-by or the car’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
