Former Rock Hill High football standout Mitchell Jeter had an outstanding freshman season for The Citadel.

Jeter, last year’s Herald All-Area Defensive Player of the Year for Class AAAA, had 28 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, 4 sacks and a fumble recovery.

For his effort, Jeter, a 6-0, 285-pound defensive lineman was honored by the Southern Conference. He was named to the league’s All-Freshman Defensive first team.

Jeter is the son of Leroy and Francis Jeter.

The Citadel was 7-4 last season and Bulldogs coach Kevin Higgins was named the conference’s Co-Coach of the Year.
