In holidays past we’ve had a Christmas tree ornament contest in Carolina Living. This year we’re trying something new: A holiday snapshot contest.

Send us your family photos capturing a moment that means a lot to you and tell us what makes the photo so special. (Make sure to give us clear info to ID people.) It could be a joyous moment at church, a treasured family gathering or your cat knocking over the Christmas tree.

Note: We’re looking for candid family photos that tell a story. The older the photo, the better. The best shot will win a restaurant gift card, and we’ll name the winner and run some of the photos online and in print Dec. 22.

Upload your photos at charlotteobserver.com/contests. Deadline: Dec. 7. Roland Wilkerson
