Harrisburg

Holiday happenings: The town’s annual Christmas tree lighting will be 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at Veteran’s Park near Town Hall. The event will include craft vendors, wagon rides, Santa and performances by locals. Details: 704-455-7275. Boy Scout Troup 222 will host an All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast with Santa 7:30 a.m.-noon Dec. 1 at Harrisburg United Methodist Church, 4560 N.C. 49. Harrisburg-based Dance Fushion will present its version of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” at 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 8. at Jay M. Robinson High School, 300 Pitts School Road SW.., Concord. Concord

Business grants: Applications for grants available from the Concord Downtown Development Corporation are due Dec. 7. Grant decisions will be made Dec. 20. Grants, which range from $350 to $1,000 to $1,500, are available to jump-start business, build awnings or create signage. All grant recipients must match the grant and work cannot begin on a project until after application is approved Dec. 20. Other restrictions apply. Details: 704-784-4208.


Extended hours: The Concord Library has extended its operating hours. It will be open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays. For a complete listing of activities and events: 704-920-2050. The library is at 27 Union St. N.
