Area wide

Holiday celebrations: The Cornelius PARC Department and Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department will offer two holiday celebrations for people with special needs.

The adult celebration and gift exchange will be 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Cornelius Arts Center, 19725 Oak St., Unit 1, Cornelius.

Registration is requested by Dec. 5. This is free for residents and $5 for nonresidents, and everyone should bring a wrapped gift that costs no more than $5 for the gift exchange.

The youth celebration and volunteer appreciation will be 1-3 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Cornelius Arts Center, 19725 Oak St., Unit 1, Cornelius. This event is open to people with special needs of all ages and their families and will feature photos with Santa, crafts, snacks and more. Bring a self-addressed stamped envelope to write a letter to Santa; he will write back.

Pre-registration is requested, free for Cornelius and Huntersville residents, $5 for nonresidents.

The youth 2012 program volunteers will also be recognized.

Mooresville

Nutcracker benefit: The Academy of Dance and Fine Arts will present the Nutcracker Ballet at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 and at 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at Mooresville High School, 659 E. Center Ave.

The Dec. 1 performance will be followed at 5 p.m. with a holiday benefit for Stop Child Abuse Now of Iredell County.

Adult tickets are $12, kids 6-11 are $10 and ages 5 and under are free. Details: www.adfastudio.com.
