Officials with the annual Belk Carolinas’ Carrousel scholarship competition and parade have announced a list of winners from this week’s events.
The scholarship competition was open to high school senior girls across the region, with winners judged on academic achievement, community involvement, poise, and interview skills.
The first-place finisher won a $3,000 scholarship. Awards ranged down to $700.
Winners also were named in band competition, and several winning units were named from the Thanksgiving Day parade.
SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
First: Mijal Bucay (Providence High)
Second: Kelsey Lauren Fletcher (East Rutherford High)
Third: Eileen Jakeway (Hough High)
Fourth: Kelcey Lee McClung (Weddington High)
Fifth: Tia Andrade (East Gaston High)
York Scholarship: Elizabeth Brewer (Piedmont High)
Wingate University winners: Amelia Bruce (Alexander Central High) and Kayla Castello (Rocky River High).

Outside Mecklenburg: Jennifer McKinney (East Burke High)
