A US Airways Express flight from Key West to Charlotte was diverted after striking a bird Friday, airline officials said.
The bird strike happened early Friday afternoon, shortly after Flight 3284 took off. The plane was operated by Republic Airlines as a US Airways Express flight.
A spokesman said after the bird strike, the pilot received some indications in the cockpit, and decided to land the plane. The flight landed at Ft. Myers, Fla., with no injuries reported to the 73 passengers.
Mechanics were evaluating the plane Friday evening. A second plane was being sent from Charlotte to pick up the passengers and take them the rest of the way, officials said.
