Man shot to death in NE Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are looking for clues in the death of a 38-year-old man who was shot to death Saturday night in northeast Charlotte.

Police have identified the victim as Willie Thomas Byars Jr. He was found shot to death shortly after 8:15 p.m. in the 7500 block of Shady Lane. That is off East W.T. Harris Boulevard, south of Delta Lake Drive.

Police say they were called for an assault with a deadly weapon and found the victim with a gunshot wound. Medic was called, but Byars was dead at the scene.

Investigators ask that anyone with information in the case contact Homicide detectives at 704-432-TIPS, or leave information with Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
