Two Rowan County residents have been charged with what authorities say was a heroin distribution operation that sold drugs at several locations in the Statesville area.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office says the arrests were made early last week, after undercover agents allegedly made several purchases of heroin from one of the suspects, Edward Patchett.
Patchett, 42, and Brianna Helene Barry, 23, have been charged with selling heroin; possession of heroin; and transporting heroin. Detectives say Patchett and Barry lived in the Cleveland area of western Rowan County.
Detectives say they received a tip that Patchett was involved in a heroin distribution operation, selling to different people. Authorities say they were able to buy $14,000 worth of heroin from Patchett and Barry.
Additional arrests are likely, authorities say.
Barry is being held under $253,000 bond, and Patchett is jailed under $250,000 bond.
