Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say they’ve made an arrest in a case last week when a woman was robbed at gunpoint.

Juan Carlos Peole-Romero, 35, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, and police say they were led to the suspect by a license tag number.

The woman told police she was walking in the 6500 block of North Tryon Street about 3:30 a.m. last Tuesday, headed to a friend’s house. She said a car pulled up, and a man jumped out. Armed with a gun, he took her purse and drove away, the woman told police.

The victim gave police the license tag number of the vehicle. A short time later, police spotted the vehicle in the 1100 block of West Sugar Creek Road. After an investigation, police said they had enough information to charge Peole-Romero in the case.

Investigators ask that anyone with information call Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
