    Three people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning, November 27, 2012, after a wreck on East Independence Boulevard. Three people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a wreck on East Independence Boulevard.

The wreck occurred around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Independence and Albemarle Road. Authorities say the SUV overturned after colliding with a car.

At least one person was trapped after the wreck, and it took firefighters about 20 minutes to free them from their vehicle.

Medic said it took three people to Presbyterian Hospital for treatment, including two who had suffered potentially life-threatening injuries. The final patient sustained non life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Meanwhile, the wreck has caused traffic problems on eastbound Independence.
