Matchup to Watch
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist vs. Josh Smith: Rookie Kidd-Gilchrist might be the one Bobcat equipped to match Smith’s quickness, size and explosiveness. He guarded Smith well last week, but got in foul trouble.
Observations
• The Hawks are now going big, moving center Zaza Pachulia into the starting lineup and moving Al Horford over to power forward.
• The Bobcats had big problems guarding Horford. The defensive rotations were slow when Horford rolled to the rim after setting picks.
• Atlanta is one of the NBA’s top defensive teams – top-five in points allowed, opponent field-goal percentage and opponent 3-point percentage.
Tap-ins
The Bobcats are coming off their worst beating ever, losing 114-69 in Oklahoma City on Monday.
• Charlottean Anthony Morrow now plays off the bench for the Hawks.
Hawks point guard (and former Wake Forest star) Jeff Teague has had double-doubles in each of his last two games.
Did you know?
Pachulia was technically a Bobcat for a day. They chose him in the 2004 expansion draft in a pre-arranged deal to trade him to Milwaukee. They probably should have kept him.
