MONROE -- Police in Monroe are looking for a man who robbed a bank Tuesday afternoon.

The robbery was reported about 1:30 p.m. at the PNC Bank branch in the 1700 block of Dickerson Boulevard. That is behind the Monroe Mall, between U.S. 74 and Old Charlotte Highway.

Police say a man entered the bank and demanded money. No weapon was displayed during the robbery, police say. The man ran into a wooded area behind the bank, and while police called in their K-9 dog search unit, they were not able to find a suspect.

The man involved in the robbery is described as a black male with medium complexion. He was in his early to mid 30s, about 6 feet tall, and thin. He was wearing a dark gray hooded shirt, dark jeans, Oakley-style sunglasses, and had white socks on his hands and a white cloth over his mouth.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers, 704-283-5600.
