ROCK HILL A Rock Hill man told police his friend attacked him without warning and shot him with a pellet gun early Tuesday.

Police arrested Jonathan Tyler Hall, charging him with second-degree assault and battery.

The two men, both 48, were at a Marion Street home around 2 a.m. The victim said he was asleep on his friend’s couch when Hall became angry with him “for some reason” and started pushing him around the room, a Rock Hill police report states.

The man said Hall shot him with a pellet gun before he opened the front door and threw him over the front porch rail, the report states. The man said Hall then threw his belongings out of the door.

Hall told police he never touched his friend, saying the man fell over the rail because he was drunk. Police confirmed that the man was drunk, but also saw a big knot above the man’s eye with a cut and bruise on his cheek. His injuries were consistent with an assault, police said.
