Concord police say search crews are looking in a pond after receiving a tip that a body of a missing person might be found there.
Police and the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department, reportedly with the assistance of a dive team from the Charlotte Fire Department, began searching Thursday morning at a pond near the intersection of N.C. 49 and Old Charlotte Highway.
A police spokesman said at 11:15 a.m. that no body has been found yet.
The search came after someone tipped off police that a body could be found at the site. Police did not give the identity of the missing person.
“The search is in the initial phase and could take an unknown time to complete,” Concord police spokesman Allen Overcash said in a statement late Thursday morning.
