More Information

Charlotte fire officials say a family’s two pet dogs died in a blaze that damaged their home late Thursday morning in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood.

The fire was reported shortly before 10:45 a.m. at a house in the 1400 block of Nassau Boulevard, a block east of The Plaza and just north of Central Avenue.

Charlotte firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house when they arrived. Charlotte fire Capt. Mark Basnight said it took a crew of 27 firefighters about 15 minutes to subdue the blaze.

There were no human injuries. Basnight said the family has been displaced by the fire.
