Stanley residents urged to boil water

STANLEY -- Residents in this Gaston County town have been urged to boil water before using it Friday.

Town officials say there are concerns about possible bacterial contamination of the town’s water supply. Crews were performing work on the water tower, and the water level got low, officials say.

There is a chance that bacteria might have gotten into the water supply. Officials are expecting to receive lab test reports Friday, to determine if the water was contaminated.

The water should be boiled for a minute if it is being used with food, to drink, or to wash the body.
