CONCORD -- Authorities in Concord say the search of a rock quarry lake Thursday failed to turn up a body.
The search began, police say, after their received a tip that a body was in the lake, off N.C. 49 near Old Charlotte Road.
Concord police, the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office, and a Charlotte Fire Department dive team participated in the search, which took much of the day. Police Chief Guy Smith said Thursday evening that police are planning whether there is more they can do in response to the tip.
Police have not said if the tip included the name of the person whose body was supposedly in the lake.
Speculation centered on Crystal Dawn Morrison, a 31-year-old mother who has been missing since Aug. 23. She was last seen walking to lunch about 12:40 p.m., taking a break from hr job at Connextions Recruiting on International Drive.
Police have searched at least twice for Morrison, using their K-9 dog search unit. But no trace of the woman has been found.
Morrison’s family has hired a private investigator.
