A 16-year-old Lincoln County girl reported missing earlier this week has been found, authorities said Friday.
Officers had been looking for Amanda Marie Atkins after she was last seen Sunday evening at her family’s home on Lake Shore Road South in Denver. Authorities believe she had left the home through her bedroom window.
The search for Atkins focused primarily on Gaston and Lincoln counties.
Officers made contact with Atkins on her cell phone on Friday morning, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. A detective then met the teen on the tennis courts of South Point High School in Belmont.
She has since been returned to her mother, authorities said.
