With five games remaining, the Carolina Panthers’ leading scorer is a player no longer on the team. A look at the Panthers’ top five point-producers:
Justin Medlock, kicker, 44 points: The former CFL standout made his first seven field goals, but was kicked to the curb after missing three field goals in a row.
Cam Newton, quarterback, 36 points: Newton broke Steve Grogan’s record among quarterbacks with 14 rushing touchdowns. Newton has six rushing scores this season, including two last week at Philadelphia.
Brandon LaFell, wideout, 24 points: LaFell’s four receiving touchdowns are three more than Steve Smith’s total. LaFell had four touchdowns combined his first two seasons.
T Greg Olsen, tight end, 18 points: Olsen leads the Panthers with 49 catches, while his 589 receiving yards are second to only Smith’s 770.
T DeAngelo Williams, running back, 18 points: One of Williams’ three TDs shouldn’t have counted. The league said Williams’ 30-yard touchdown vs. Washington should have come back to spot where an official blew an inadvertent whistle.
