Your Monday morning traffic update

Independence Boulevard is the trouble spot for motorists at 8:45 a.m. this Monday morning in the Charlotte region.

A collision is being cleared at East Independence Boulevard and Sardis Road North in southeast Charlotte, and traffic is slow on Independence at Albemarle Road because of an earlier disabled vehicle.

However, motorists should watch for dense fog, especially south and east of Charlotte. Visibilities have been decreasing since 3 a.m.

The report at 8:45 a.m.:

-- I-485 inner loop, south Mecklenburg ... Congestion; traffic moving 15-25 mph from Providence Road to South Boulevard.

-- I-77 northbound, south Charlotte ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from Carowinds Boulevard to Tyvola Road.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-30 mph from N.C. 73 down to I-485.

-- I-77 southbound, Lake Norman area ... Congestion; traffic moving 20-25 mph from north of the lake down to I-485.

-- Independence Boulevard inbound ... Collision being cleared at Independence at Sardis Road North, with traffic snarled for about a half-mile. Farther inbound, congestion slowing traffic to 5-15 mph around the Albemarle Road interchange.

-- Sharon Road at Morrison Boulevard ... Collision; minor to moderate delays.

-- Eastfield Road at Browne Road ... Collision; minor delays.
