Charlotte man collects big Powerball prize

The second $1 million winner from North Carolina in Wednesday’s historic Powerball drawing has claimed his prize money.

Clyde Tillman purchased his winning ticket at the Circle K on Selwyn Avenue in Charlotte. He collected his winnings, worth $680,001 after taxes, at lottery headquarters in Raleigh on Friday afternoon.

Two $10,000-winning Powerball tickets sold in Charlotte for Wednesday’s drawing have yet to be claimed. The tickets were sold at Uptown Sundries on North Tryon Street and the Circle K on Arbors Drive.

Winning ticketholders have 180 days from the date of a drawing to collect their prizes.
