Gas line ruptured in north Charlotte

No injuries were reported Monday afternoon in a natural gas leak in north Charlotte.

The leak was reported shortly before 12:45 p.m. on Statesville Road at Cindy Lane. Authorities say someone ruptured a gas line, forcing the intersection to be closed temporarily.

Charlotte fire Capt. Rob Brisley said it took a crew of 25 firefighters about 40 minutes to shut down the gas. All roads were open in the area by 1:30 p.m.
