The seventh annual Ryan Newman Charity fishing tournament will start at first light Dec. 8 at Blythe Landing, 15901 N.C. 73, Huntersville. The tournament is open to the public, cost is $200 per boat to enter. Weigh-ins and vendor area opens at 3 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Ryan Newman Foundation, established in 2005 to educate and encourage people to spay/neuter their pets and adopt pets from shelters; educate the public on the importance of natural conservation and to provide college scholarships to students interested in auto racing careers.
